Jacque Jones hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI and Tim Hudson went 9 strong innings
at the ballpark as the Streator Reds beat the slumping Chainsaw Proctologists
by the count of 6 to 0.
Streator drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring 3 runs utilizing 5 base hits. Jimmy Rollins led off the inning for
Streator when he slapped a one-base hit. Ryan Raburn came next and he
doubled scoring a run. After an out was recorded, Chipper Jones stepped up
to the plate and he lined a base-hit bringing in another run. Ryan Garko
followed and he laced a one-base hit. Sean Casey came to the plate and
banged out a single scoring the final run of the inning. That early scoring
was all that Hudson(3-2) needed. Streator totaled 13 hits on the afternoon.
Jeff Suppan(0-3) was the losing pitcher. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13
hits and 2 walks in 7 innings. 'Hudson was the man today,' Ralph Madara
said. 'He had just about every pitch working.'
